One of the best things about working at Met Traders is the opportunity to go on one of the company days out. Recently we were treated to an evening in a Private Box at Sandown Park Racecourse, for the richest evening of racing in the UK.
We were welcomed with canapés and Champagne, prior to the races starting. Then we were seated for the meal and dessert whilst the drinks were flowing, in between the first and second race. Then people fully turned their attention to the serious business of betting on the races. Some had a profitable evening, but most left with lighter wallets than they started with and torn up tickets.
The final race was where the most excitement was for Met, as it was THE MET TRADERS HANDICAP, the race that we had sponsored. It was great to see the Met Traders logo around Sandown on the big screens. We were given the opportunity to enter the parade ring where the Horses were led around as ahead of the race. The directors were even allowed to pick and award the prize for 'Best Turned out' Horse. The race was also the largest race of the evening, meaning the best opportunity for profit, if you could pick it right. After the race, Met Traders had the honour of presenting the trophy, to the owner and trainer of the victorious Horse, Chevallier.
It was a great evening and one that you would not be able to experience in most jobs.
